The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
I love to travel! No, I haven’t sold all my belongings and lived abroad for months at a time… I have a full-time job in Portland, Oregon, and a mortgage to pay! But I prioritize traveling and make at least a few trips (big and small) happen every year.
Traveling gives me the opportunity and inspiration to define a particular dream and achieve it. All phases of travel fulfill me. When planning a trip, I have something detailed to research, I scourge the internet for pictures, ideas, and stories. While on a trip, I am liberated from my stress, anxiety, and doubts of life at home. I feel energized and free to get lost in another culture and place. After a trip, I am fulfilled and content, refreshed and grateful. And excited to plan the next destination.
Traveling is also important to me because it’s the opportunity to learn about other cultures and people. To see how people live all over the world, in some ways wildly different, in other ways amusingly the same. It brings the world closer together – we’re much more alike than we are different.
My goal with this blog is to share the places I’ve gone and experiences I’ve had, in order to inspire others to travel! Remote places aren’t scary, foreign people aren’t out to get you, and no one is too important to miss a couple weeks of work (work will continue just fine without you, I promise).
